Soldering is my friend

Soldering is fun. I learned how to do it in an electronics class a few years back. I bought a soldering iron from Fry's Electronics (one of my favorite stores) back when I lived in California and made a few things with some kits I got at ThinkGeek.com.

I assembled an LED heart that lights up and alternately flashes, as well as an electronic die with a random number generator. I made movies of them to demonstrate the nerdiness.

Haha, do you like that it took me almost a year to respond to your comment? Pretty sad on my part. Okay, t.v.s are like, a LOT harder. Of course, depending on the tv, but expect to pay more on parts than the tv is worth, especially flatscreens! I speak from experience. We thought we were getting an amazing deal on a flatscreen through newegg.com, and we thought that the return/warranty policy were great, but they don't tell you about having to pay for shipping, which was 1/3 the cost of the tv anyway. We went for the warranty, but the company only pays for parts, not service, so we had to pay a guy, again, about a third of what the tv costs to fix it. The company paid the price for the parts, which were seriously THREE times the cost of said flatscreen! So if our tv ever breaks again, we will be done with flatscreens until we have some disposible income again, maybe in three years when we pay off the debt of law school... So long story short, good luck if you want to fix that t.v., not as easy as a little LED kit from ThinkGeek, I wouldn't know where to start with a t.v.
